Abstract
This study was aimed to illustrate the psychological process of coping to anger regarding Hwa-Byung, a Korean anger syndrome. A grounded theory methodology as a qualitative approach was used to investigate and describe the experiences of the patients with anger. A matrix of anger was derived from the grounded theory research, describes factors and connections related to anger. People with anger mobilize various strategies to deal with their agony. Those processes were constructed into five phases: calming down; deliberating; burning; bearing; rising against. In the first phase, they cool off pounding heart, and at the second phase, they look for alternatives. Through the third phase, they devote themselves to as well as facing down on opponents. For the fourth phase, they endure mutely by diverting their attention to productive activity or religious life. At the fifth phase, they encourage hope to themselves and struggle to their feet. Those phases were illustrated into a diagram of the 'Coping process of anger', which was included in the text of this article. © 2011 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
