- Abstract
- To verify reliability of electronic devices against indirect effects of lightning, the impulse generator which can produce the simulated indirect effect waveform is required. In this paper, the impulse generator to simulate a 10MHz damped sinusoidal waveform(DSWF) of indirect effect that has a peak voltage of over 3kV and maintains 25% to 75% of this peak voltage to the 5th peak is described. It includes not only pulse forming network to shape DSWF, but also high voltage direct current supply(HVDCS), to charges about 10kV to the storage capacitor of PFN, based on LCC resonant converter topology with an appropriate design considering high voltage isolation and small load capacitance(1nF). Finally, an experimental results show that the impulse generator can output the target simulated waveform of indirect effect. © 2021 KIEE & EMECS.
