- Abstract
- In this paper, a compact design of a modular cell-based pulse modulator for driving an X-band magnetron used in a medical linear accelerator (LINAC) is dealt with. The pulse modulator generating maximum output pulse voltage -40kV and output current 100A is constructed by combining six discharge stages, and this paper introduces the design and test of a prototype single discharge stage. The single stage is designed in a compact size (W: 260 mm × H: 170 mm × D: 36 mm) and outputs -6.7kV pulse voltage and 100A pulse current. The structure of the proposed compact modulator and a single discharge stage are introduced, and a single stage output experiment was conducted. © 2021 KIEE & EMECS.
