글자그림책 읽기 활동이 유아의 단어재인 및 읽기흥미에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 글자그림책 읽기 활동이 유아 읽기 발달의 주요 요인으로 꼽히는 단어재인 및 읽기흥미 발달에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보는데 있다. 연구대상은 S시에 위치한 T 유치원에 재원중인 만 4세 유아 40명으로 실험집단 20명, 비교집단 20명으로 하였다. 실험집단 유아에게는 글자그림책 읽기와 확장 활동으로 구성된 글자그림책 읽기 활동을 실시하고, 비교집단 유아에게는 누리과정에 기초한 생활주제별 그림책 읽기와 확장활동으로 구성된 그림책 읽기 활동을 실시하였다. 연구결과 글자그림책 읽기 활동을 실시한 실험집단 유아의 사후 단어재인 점수가 비교집단 유아의 사후 단어재인 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서더 높게 나타났다. 또한 실험집단 유아의 사후 읽기흥미 점수가 비교집단 유아의 사후 읽기흥미 점수보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준에서 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 글자그림책 읽기 활동이 유아의 읽기 발달의 주요 요인으로 꼽히는 단어재인과 읽기흥미 발달을 돕는 효과적인 교수매체가 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect an of alphabet books reading activity on young children’s word recognition and reading interests. The participants were 40 four-year-old children at a kindergarten in Seoul (-20 experimental group and 20 control group). The children in the experimental group participated in an extension activity after reading the alphabet book whereas the children in the control group participated in an extension activity after reading the picture book by based on Nuri process. The results of this study were as follows: First, the results indicated that the experimental group had significantly higher score on young children’s word recognition than control group. Second, the experimental group have significantly higher score on young children’s reading interests than the control group. The findings suggest that an alphabet books reading activity can be an effective teaching method for reading development of young children.
