University libraries are trying to reorganize their spaces in accordance with changes in the educational and learning environment following the changes in the 4th industrial revolution. These initiatives include expanding or providing a variety of open private study spaces, group study rooms, community spaces, laptop spaces and relaxation areas. In this study, the usability of each space was analyzed by identifying the space composition of the recently remodeled university library and examining the space occupancy of users. Through this, we intend to examine the problems in the spatial composition of the university library and seek ways to increase the usability. By examining the space occupancy for each space, the relationship with the spatial composition change characteristics was investigated. The first priority for space occupancy was the ‘creative room’, which is a space showing all the changing characteristics, and the second priority for space occupancy was the ‘24-hours room’ without changing characteristics. On the other hand, the ‘truth room’, a space that shows all the changing characteristics like the ‘creative room’, took the bottom 5th place in the space occupancy. It can be seen that the meaning of the newly attempted spatial composition feature is important and the demand for it is high, but the basic functions and performance of the library are also important. It is still important to ensure the privacy of personal study space so that students can focus on learning, and increase physical accessibility for convenient access. As a result, in order to increase the occupancy of the library, it is important to properly apply the new spatial planning characteristics, such as accessibility of new devices, openness to strengthen communication, and flexible space composition in connection with resting spaces. The needs of library users are very diverse, and various spatial configurations should be supported to meet their needs. It must be ensured that learning and relaxation can be separated or shared, and it must be planned so that, if separation of rest areas is necessary, they can be connected naturally. In addition, the group study learning space should be provided in a form that supports flexible and free activities rather than a uniform and fixed form. In order to bridge the gap between the use of semesters and vacations, it is necessary to develop various programs for local residents during the vacation period.-
