- Abstract
- Because of rapid expansion of computing power and the supply of high speed network technology, we want a realistic service like Virtual Reality on the Internet. At present, the majority of the services of virtual reality on the Internet use VRML(Virtual Reality Markup Language). But existing integration of VRML with a Database do not supply functions which integrate with other programming languages. And it is also complicated to reconstruct Virtual object whenever it changes. Also the VRML do not have the function of using other data formats in conjunction with VRML. In this paper, we design and implement an authoring tool based on VRML and XML(Extensible Markup Language) that can the creation and modification of VRML and XML object on a high-level(that is to say, users of this authoring tool need not usage of DBMS). Existing VRML and XML authoring tools do not have the function of connection to the database so they must use Embedded SQL or Server Side Include where developers must insert database code into VRML and XML code. That is, existing Virtual Object(VRML and XML Object) authoring tools isn't convenient to user of the authoring tool. In this paper we propose an authoring tool that integrates Virtual Object and database so that a 3D e-Catalog based on Virtual Object connection to DB can be made. Therefore developers are offered the ability to manipulate Virtual Object on a high-level.
