dc.description.abstract | This study was designed to investigate the relationship of Work Stress, Hardiness, and Burnout among Nurses. The data for this study were obtained from 140 nurses working in a university hospital in Seoul from August 20 to September 11, 1997. For this study, three instruments were used. For measuring nurse's Work Stress, Kim, Mae Ja(1984)'s instrument was used. The questionnaire was composed of 15 items. The measurement of Hardiness consisted of 14 items, selected from the 20 items questionnaire which was developed by Kobasa, Maddi & Kahn(1982) and amended by Park Myeung Hee(1995). The third was to measure Burnout, developed by Pines(1981) and amended by Hong Kuen Pyo(1984). The questionnaire was composed of 21 items. The data were analyzed by Frequency, t-test, oneway-ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. The results of analysis were as follows; 1. The level of nurse's Work Stress was 3.48 point (by 5 point scale) The level of nurse's Hardiness was 2.06 point(by 4 point scale) and The level of nurse's Burnout was 3.54 point (by 7 point scale) 2. The relationship of Work Stress, Hardiness and Burnout among Nurses. The 1st hypothesis, 'The higher the level of nurse's Work Stress, the level of Burnout would be higher.' was supported(r= 0.4755, P<0.001). The 2nd hypothesis, 'The higher the level of nurse's Hardiness, the level of Work Stress would be lower.' was supported(r= - 0.2485, P< 0.01). The 3rd hypothesis, 'The higher the level of nurse's Hardiness, the level of Burnout would be lower.' was supported(r= - 0.3940, P< 0.001). The 4th hypothesis, ' There was a difference among nurse's Work Stress, Hardiness, and Burnout by each types of word.' was not supported (t= -1.00, 0.08, -0.63, P< 0.05). | - |
