직장어린이집 석식에 대한 교사와 부모의 경험과 인식

Abstract

본 연구는 직장어린이집 석식에 대한 교사와 부모의 경험과 인식, 영유아에 대한 시선, 석식의 방향성을 알아보고자 했다. 자발적 참여 의사를 밝힌 대상 중 직장어린이집 석식 운영을 경험한 교사 10인, 직장어린이집 석식 이용 경험이 있는 부모 3인의 연구참여자를 선정했다. 자료수집은 2021년 4월 한 달간 3그룹 각 2회의 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 진행했으며, 인터뷰 내용을 녹음, 전사, 분석했다. 연구 결과 첫째, 직장어린이집의 석식을 교사는 몸도 마음도 힘든 전쟁 같은 시간으로, 부모는 석식 덕분에 자녀와 보내는 시간적 여유를 얻는 것으로 경험하고 있었다. 이에 따라 교사는 직장어린이집의 석식을 식사의 의미가 퇴색된 시간으로, 부모는 맞벌이 가정 부모의 죄책감을 해소하는 기회로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 직장어린이집의 석식에 참여하는 영유아에 대해 교사는 석식 참여를 벌칙과 같이 여긴다고 보았으며, 발달에 부정적 영향이 될 것을 우려하고 있었으나 부모는 부정적인 시선이 없었다. 다만, 가족과 저녁 식사의 추억이 사라지는 것이 안타깝다는 시선은 교사와 부모가 동일하게 보였다. 셋째, 직장어린이집 석식의 방향성에 대해 교사는 석식 이용 자격에 대한 명확한 기준, 석식의 특성을 반영한 교육 제공으로 석식 환경이 개선되길 기대했다. 반면 부모는 직장 내 가족친화제도를 자유롭게 이용할 수 있는 조직문화의 조성, 맞벌이 가정을 위한 밀키트 지원 등 직장어린이집의 석식을 대안할 수 있는 방안을 제안했다. 본 연구결과를 통해 직장어린이집 석식에 대한 교사와 부모의 경험과 인식, 더불어 영유아의 경험도 간접적으로 드러났으며, 직장어린이집에서의 석식을 운영하며 논의되어야 할 부분이 무엇인지 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the experience and awareness of teachers and parents on the dinner at the workplace childcare centers (WCC), children’s eyes on the dinner at WCC, and the right direction of the dinner at WCC. Ten teachers and three parents from WCC experiencing the dinner were recruited. Data were collected during April, 2021 through Focus Group Interviews which were conducted with three independent groups and each group was contacted twice. The results showed that first, the dinner at WCC was considered as strenuous as war by teachers while parents were able to spend a relaxed time with their children due to the dinner. Thus, teachers regarded the dinner as the time that faded the meaning of mealtime whereas parents considered as the opportunity to lessen their sense of guilt as working parents. Second, teachers noticed that children having the dinner at WCC counted the dinner as a penalty and were concerned about the negative aspects of the dinner on children’s development while parents were not. However, both parents and teachers agreed on the point that they were so sorry for the children who were missing their family dinner experiences. Third, teachers expected the improved dinner circumstances by providing the obvious criteria for eligibility of the dinner and the education applying the characteristics of the dinner at WCC. Parents, on the other hand, suggested creating an organizational culture that allows the freedom to freely use family-friendly policies in the workplace and supporting meal kits for working parents as alternative ways to the dinner at WCC. The results of this study suggest the experience and awareness of teachers and parents on the dinner at WCC and the points of the dinner to be discussed, and also, the results indirectly show the children’s experiences on the dinner.
