Location-based services have spurred but, in indoor environments, pedestrian localization is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a practical method for approximating gravitational acceleration on the fly. It can be used for the estimation of moving distance and direction for consistent PDR (Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) applications. Also, there is no constraint on the way of holding a data collecting device. Through experiments, the proposed method shows promising results that it is effective for indoor pedestrian navigation.-
