공연예술가의 창작 스트레스와 창작소진에 대한 질적 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 예술가 창작활동의 증진을 위해 예술가 창작 환경의 특성을 탐색하고 창작 스트레스에 대한 예술가들의 인식을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 창작 스트레스와 창작소진의 관계와 창작성과에 따른 상호간의 영향력을 살펴보고자 한다. 공연예술가 9인을 대상으로 진행된 심층 인터뷰 결과, 예술가들은 창작물에 대한 형식과 장면 선정 등 창작하는 과정에서 발생하는 요인들을 스트레스로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 이들은 창작성과에 대한 기대감, 역할의 모호성, 대인관계로 인한 감정노동을 창작소진으로 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 창작소진은 창작성과에 영향을 주지만 이때 개별 예술가가 생각하는 창작성과의 기준은 서로 달랐다. 넷째, 예술가들은 창작성과를 위해 끊임없이 고민하고 노력하며 자신만의 기준에 따라 자신의 작품을 평가하는 독특한 특징을 보였다. 본 연구는 창작 스트레스가 창작소진에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구로서 공연예술인을 대상으로 하는 심층 인터뷰를 통해 공연 제작 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 스트레스와 창작소진의 관계를 탐색했다는 점에서 의미를 지닌다.

In this study, we explore the characteristics of artists’ creative environments and examine artists’ perceptions of creative stress in order to promote artists’ creative activities. We also examine the relationship between creative stress and creative burnout and their mutual influence on creative performance. Based on in-depth interviews with nine performing artists, we found that artists perceive factors that occur during the creative process, such as the format and scene selection, as stress. Second, they perceive creative burnout as the emotional labor caused by creative expectations, role ambiguity, and interpersonal relationships. Third, creative burnout affects creative performance, but each artist’s definition of creative performance is different. Fourth, artists were characterized by the unique feature that they constantly struggle and strive for creativity and evaluate their works according to their own criteria. As a study on the effects of creative stress on creative burnout, this study is significant in that it explored the relationship between stress and creative burnout in the performance production process through interviews with performing artists.
