- Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between distress, and resilience in lung cancer patient receving chemotherapy. Methods: A sample of 80 patients with lung cancer was recruited from a hospital in Gyeongsang Province. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA analysis with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The mean score of distress was 5.24 ± 2.17, and the most frequently reported problem area was worry. The mean score of the resilience was 4.73±1.50. Distress was found to show a statistically significant difference in the religion(F=3.305, p=.025), disease-related characteristics. For resilience, a statistically significant difference was found in age(F=4.018, p=.048), gender(F=8.182, p=.005), economic status(t=12.214, p=.001), and smoking history(F=3.684, p=030). Conclusion: Based on the results, the continuous evaluation and management of distress is needed for patients with lung cancer. The study finding suggested to develop and apply the nursing intervention program which can reduce the emotional distress and improve resilience.
