유아의 성별과 어머니의 대화양식에 따른 평균발화길이와 어휘다양도

Abstract

본 연구에서는 유아를 대상으로 이들이 보이는 구어 발화의 특성을 분석하기 위해 평균발화길이를 어절, 단어, 형태소 단위로 구분하여 살펴보고, 이와 함께 어휘다양도를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 확인하고자 32∼42개월 유아 20명을 연구대상으로 선정하고, 놀이 상황에서 어머니와 걸음마기 아동의 언어적 상호작용을 녹화하여 언어자료를 수집하였으며, CSB(2014) 프로그램을 통해 수집된 언어자료를 전사하고 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 먼저, 유아의 성별에 따라서는 어절, 단어, 형태소 단위 평균발화길이, 그리고 어휘다양도에 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로, 대화유도적 어머니의 유아가 지시적 어머니의 유아보다 어절, 단어, 형태소 단위 평균발화길이가 각각 더 긴 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 언어발달에 있어서 중요한 시기인 유아의 구어 발화 특성이 어머니의 언어자극에 따라 다른 양상으로 나타날 수 있음을 보여주었다.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of young children's utterance features by their gender and maternal conversational style. For this purpose, a total of twenty children (from 32 to 42 months) participated in this study. Mother and child dyad were participated in a play session during 20 minutes. The play session was videotaped and the videotaped data were transcribed by CBS(2014). The collected data were analyzed by using a Mann-Whitney test. The main results are as follows. First, there are no significant gender differences in children's MLU-e, MLU-w, MLU-m, and type-token ratio. Second, children of conversation-eliciting mothers had longer than those of directive mothers in MLU-e, MLU-w, MLU-m. Implications for the importance of maternal conversational style in children's spontaneous speech are discussed.
