또래 유능성, 자아존중감, 교사-유아관계와 유아 행복간의 구조 관계 분석

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 행복, 또래 유능성, 유아가 인식하는 교사-유아간의 관계, 자아존중감 간의 구조적 관계를 설정하고 이를 검증함으로써, 또래 유능성과 교사-유아 관계 변인이 자아존중감을 통해 유아의 행복에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는데 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 위해 서울시과 경기도에 소재한 유치원과 어린이집에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 250명과 그들의 교사 33명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였으며 EQS 6.2 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 또래 유능성과 교사-유아 관계가 유아의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 유아의 자아존중감을 매개로 유아의 또래 유능성과 교사-유아 관계가 유아의 행복에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 유아의 또래 유능성과 교사-유아 관계가 유아의 행복에 직접적으로 영향을 미치기 보다는 유아의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치고 이를 통해 유아의 행복감에 영향을 미친다는 사실을 의미한다. 결론적으로 유아의 또래 유능성, 교사-유아 관계, 그리고 유아의 자아존중감이 직접적으로 또는 간접적으로 유아의 행복에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변인으로 확인되었다. 본 연구결과는 행복한 유아로 기르기 위해서 유아교육기관에서 또래 유능성 증진과 긍정적 교사-유아관계 형성을 통해 자아존중감을 향상시키기 위한 노력을 할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of how such variables as peer competence and teacher-child relationship enhance self-esteem and verify the structural relationships of these variables and children’s happiness. This study collected data of 250 five-year-old children and their parents attending kindergartens and daycare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Then the data were analyzed by EQS 6.2 program. The results are as follows. First, peer competence and teacher-child relationships affect self-esteem of children. Second, self-esteem of children mediates the effect of peer competence and teacher-child relationships on happiness of children. The finding thereof indicates that peer competence and teacher-child relationships can influence self-esteem of children and consequently euphoria of children. In conclusion, this study comformed that peer competence, teacher-child relationship and self-esteem of children were the important variables that influence happiness of children directly or indirectly. The results indicate that in order to increase the happiness of children in child care centers, enhancing self-esteem by improving peer competence and making positive teacher-child relationships are essential.
