- Abstract
- Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore theoretical modeling for Crisis Response and Overcoming Process of fitness centers in the situation of COVID-19 by the grounded theory approach.
Method: To attain the goal, a total of 8 research participants were selected. They are information providers of the study and representatives & business executives who currently operate a fitness center. The analysis of the data was produced based on the observation reliability of 3 independent researchers who are professors of sport studies or qualitative research expert.
Results: First, the casual condition appeared in two aspects: internal and external urgent development, refund request, and re-registration opacity. Second, the context was the influence of the media, the temporary closure status, and the frequent departure of employees. Third, the phenomena appeared as a sudden drop in sales and psychological instability. Fourth, intervening conditions were found to be extrinsic and intrinsic. Fifth, the interaction was expressed as a total effort in providing content to customers, restoring trust with employees, and managing and managing finances. Sixth, consequences appeared as a shift in the fitness industry, changes in operating patterns, and new non-face-to-face efforts.
Conclusion: Through the results of this study, it is possible to closely examine the crisis response methods and the overcoming processes of fitness center managers in the COVID-19 situation.
