Engines and transmissions are essential driving systems for internal combustion engines and hybrid vehicles. These two systems have a common part called "oil level gauge (dipstick)". This component is useful for measuring the amount of oil in the engine or transmission. However, verification is required at the design stage to ensure that this gauge measures the correct oil level. Typically, the length of the gauge is designed along the centerline of the pipe when the gauge is inserted, and DAFUL-a multibody dynamics software-simulation shows that the gauge does not move along the centerline but moves along the optimal curve. Consequently, it shows a tendency to be inserted deeper than the design value. To solve this problem, large deformation simulation (DAFUL) will be useful to verify the design of the oil gauge rather than using mathematical calculations or real tests at the design stage.-
