- Abstract
- Capacity factor (CF) is the most important criterion when selecting a wind farm site. Concentrating power plants on high-CF sites can produce a lot of power during high winds, while distributing the power plants to have lower correlation in wind power generation may contribute to securing the power generation at a least level. Therefore, it is conjectured that constructing wind power plants in consideration of the wind speed correlation coefficient between the sites can reduce the electricity generation costs by thermal plants. The simulation results in this study show that even though the average CF decreases if lowly-correlated sites are selected, the power generation cost by thermal plants can be reduced by about 2.7%.
