Nowadays climate change is a global issue, and architects are on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint and make our environment more sustainable. Carbon dioxide and methane gas, the two main greenhouse gases, cause global warming. Methane gas is usually produced from waste in landfills. Trash that is not recyclable ends up in a landfill on the outskirts of the city, like the Incheon Landfill. Once the landfills are at a maximum capacity, then more landfills are created. This is an endless cycle and not sustainable. The accumulation of waste creates potential energy-recycle opportunities, such as when methane gas is emitted during decomposition. Methane gas could be converted to fuel of renewable energy to help power the apartments. This circular process is a sustainable idea for a new housing prototype. 100 years from now, we imagine waste management as an urban ecological infrastructure within the city.-
