The use of hydrogen as an energy source has attracted attention in recent years. As the demand for clean, sustainable energy continues to rise on a global scale, hydrogen is being considered as a green method of decarbonizing energy production. Biomass, which is a potential candidate to replace traditional fossil fuels, can also be used to produce hydrogen. Due to the abundance and low cost, lignocellulosic waste biomass makes an excellent reaction substrate for photocatalytic processes that have the potential for producing hydrogen as a green energy source. Combining photocatalysis with biomass utilization is a promising strategy to improve sustainability in chemical processes. This chapter focuses on recent developments in methods for the photocatalytic conversion of biomass to produce hydrogen. © 2024 American Chemical Society.-
