dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the development of a flat-sheet, membrane-based dehumidification module using a liquid desiccant and hydrophobic composite membrane, comprising both an active layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a scrimbacking support layer of polypropylene (PP). The performance of the proposed module is experimentally assessed in terms of the effectiveness and moisture removal rate for assorted operation conditions such as liquid desiccants, inlet temperatures and flow rates of solution and humid air, and relative humidities of humid air. The module fabricated in the present work consists of two air channels and a solution channel in a cross-flow configuration. In the experiments, two types of liquid desiccants, i.e., lithium chloride (LiCl) and lithium bromide (LiBr), are employed to evaluate the dehumidification performance of the module.-
