The mortality rate of car - pedestrian accidents is quite high, compared to the frequency of accidents. Throughout the world, governments and insurance companies tend to establish and implement new safety standards for pedestria n protection. In order to improve the performance of pedestrian protection, the Korean government has evaluated pedestrian safety for the vehicles as Korea New Car Assessment Program (K - NCAP) since the 2007 year. The performance for pedestrian protection h as been gradually improved, but it is still insufficient. In this study, nonlinear dynamic analysis is performed to simulate the upper legform test based on the Euro - NCAP test procedures for the pedestrian safety.-
