정음정양법의 원리와 한계성 고찰

Abstract

본 연구는 정음정양법(淨陰淨陽法)의 원리와 활용성 그리고 이론구성의 한계성에 대해 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 정음정양법은 주역 팔괘의 음합과 양합 여부에 따라 각각 음과 양을 구분하여 길흉을 판단한다. 즉, 괘의 세효(爻)중 가운데 효를 제외하고 상하 두 효만을 보아 음양으로 되어 있으면정음이고, 음양이 상하가 같으면 정양이다. 곧 상(上)의 천(天)과 하(下)의 지(地)가 배합되면 정음이고, 동성이면 정양이다. 방위가 정양룡이면 정양향을, 정음룡이면 정음향을 이루면 순청이 되어 길한 것으로 보았다. 이러한 정음정양법은 다양한 영역에서 활용되고 있는데, 풍수와 택일 그리고 명리학에서활용되고 있다. 우선 풍수에서는 용법(龍法)과 수법(水法) 두 가지 영역에서 활용되고 있는데, 용법에는 지상구성법과 선천산법이 있고, 수법으로는 보성수법과 후천수법이 있다. 양택 공간구성 원리인 팔택법(八宅法)도 정음정양법에 바탕을 두고 있다. 택일의 활용법은 생기복덕법(生氣福德法)이 대표적이다. 명리학도 역시 구성(九星)을 바탕으로 길흉을 분석하는 방법을 사용하고 있다. 따라서 정음정양법은 풍수와 택일, 명리에서 활용되는 등 다양한 활용성을 가지고 있으나, 출처와 근거가 부족하고 여러 특징적인 요인에대해 구체적인 설명이 생략되고 있다. 비교적 체계적이라는 평을 듣는 정음정양법이지만 단순한 체계와 구성을 벗어나지 못하는 여타 이기풍수와 차별성을 찾기 어렵다.

This study aims to examine the principle and applicability of the Jeongeumjeongyang method and to point out the limitations of the theoretical composition. The Jeongeumjeongyang method determines good and bad fortune by distinguishing between yin and yang according to the appropriateness of the yin and yang combination of the eight Trigrams from the Book of the Changes. Specifically, if the yin and yang of the upper and lower lines of the trigram (excluding the middle line) are different, it is Jeongeum; if they are the same, it is Jeongyang. This principle also applies to the concepts of upper(上) Heaven(天) and the lower(下) Earth(地) as well: when they are opposite, it is Jeongeum; when they are the same, it is Jeongyang. When the orientation aligns with either the dragon of Jeongyang directing Jeongyang or the dragon of Jeongeum directing Jeongeum, it is considered pure and clear, hence auspicious. The Jeongeumjeongyang method is utilized in various fields, including Fengshui, selecting auspicious days, and Myeongli Science. In Fengshui, there are two main areas: Dragon method(龍法) and Water method(水法). Under the Dragon method, there are methods of Jisangguseong and Seoncheonsan. The Water method has two approaches: Boseongsubeop and Huchensubeop. Eight Mansions Theory(八宅法), a method of selecting a good house to live in by eight orientations, is also based on the Jeongeumjeongyang method. The representative method of utilizing a method of selecting auspicious days is the method of Saenggibokdeok(生氣福德法). Myeongli science also uses the method when analyzing good and bad fortune based on Nine stars(九星). Despite its various applications—Fengshui, selecting auspicious days, and Myeongli science—the theoretical foundation of the Jeongeumjeongyang method is insufficient, lacking detailed explanations for its various characteristic factors. Although the Jeongeumjeongyang method is considered relatively systematic, it is difficult to find a difference from other Fengshui theories based on the principle and the material forces that cannot go beyond a simple system and composition.
