dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to analyze nonlinear dynamics of a space elevator system connected with a tether. The coupled non-linear equations of motion are derived using Hamilton's principle with a polar coordinate system. In order to analyze the responses of the space elevator system with a tether, time responses are computed by the Newmark time integration method. We also compare the dynamic behavior of the system with previous studies. Furthermore, the effects of the elevator mass and moving velocity of the mass with time variation are studied.
