Thermoplastic elastomers based on maleated polyolefin elastomer-nylon 12 blends

Abstract

It was demonstrated that highly transparent thermoplastic elastomers can be prepared by melt blending of maleated polyolefin elastomer with nylon 12. The blends showed good tensile proeperties with excellent elastic recoverability which are comparable with commercially available polyamide TPE (PEBAX). Further, the blend TPE showed shape memory effect and the switching temperature for the shape recovery occurs are well matched with the crystalline melting temperature of the POE phase.
