dc.description.abstract | In the present work, new hydrazone compounds, namely (Z)-2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-N'-(1-(4-nitrophenyl)ethylidene)propanehydrazide (P2), and (Z)-2-(4-isobutylphenyl)-N'-(1-phenylethylidene)propanehydrazide (P13), bearing ibuprofen moiety were synthesized and investigated as green corrosion inhibitors of N80 steel in 15% HCl using chemical and electrochemical techniques. Results obtained showed that both hydrazones acted as effective mixed-type inhibitors, protecting the N80 steel in 15% HCl at 303K and 333K. Inhibition efficiencies of 97% and 95% were obtained at 303K and optimum concentrations of INPH and IPPH, respectively. The anticorrosion properties of investigated hydrazones toward N80 steel dissolution were also evaluated gravimetrically at 333K, and inhibition efficiencies of 91% and 90% were obtained in the same order at optimum concentrations. | - |
