The aim of this research is to investigate the applicability of the strut-tie model. For this purpose, a simple supported deep beam subjected to uniformly distributed load was analyzed in which the flexural design was focused. In some cases the result of design using this model indicates remarkable discrepancy with them using other building codes like ACI code or CEB-FIP. The main reason why is the disregard of the influence of the column width which is analyzed systematically in the paper. Also several components of the strut-tie model concept were discussed. As examples several deep beams are analyzed in which the design parameters were chosen from practical affairs of multi-family buildings from 20 to 40 stories.-
