dc.description.abstractThis study focuses on the environmental and sustainability aspects of phase change materials (PCMs) usage, with a specific emphasis on porous expanded perlite-based phase change materials. Porous perlite (EP) is ground to powder and combined with stearic acid (SA) in varying proportions (4:1, 3:1, 2:1, and 1.75:1) to generate shape-stabilized ES composite PCMs. BET analysis reveals a surface area of 1.02 m2/g, while BJH calculations yield an average pore diameter of 26.6 Å. The thermal stability of ES composites is established through TGA, with DTA results indicating substantial phase change enthalpies. FTIR analysis demonstrates chemical coherence between the PCM and the shape-stabilizing material. Exceptional leak-free performance is observed in ES composite PCMs across temperatures. Calorimetry studies on synthesized PCM composites with ordinary Portland cement (OPC) exhibit a substantial temperature drop in heats of hydration with just a 10% addition of ES.-
