- Abstract
- This study proposes a correction regression model to improve the accuracy of in-situ U-value measurements by quantitatively analyzing key environmental factor that affect the thermal transmittance of building exterior walls under various outdoor conditions. Field measurements were conducted on a deteriorated educational building constructed in the 1980s, located in Ansan, Korea, under four conditions: summer/winter and south-/north-facing walls. Data on indoor and outdoor air temperatures, wall surface temperatures, and solar radiation were collected. Hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS revealed high explanatory power (R² ˃ 0.93) and low error rates (8–9%) under winter conditions, whereas the summer south-facing case showed relatively low explanatory power and significantly higher error rates. This suggests that multiple environmental factors interact in south-facing conditions, making it difficult to fully explain U-value variations with the current variables alone. The proposed method provides a methodological basis for enhancing the field applicability of infrared
thermography-based U-value evaluations, and further research is needed to incorporate additional variables and refine the model, particularly for summer and south-facing scenarios.
