Abstract
This study reviews recent research on occupant behavior in buildings and suggests future directions for its application in smart building environments. Occupant behavior studies are categorized into data collection and modeling, and the application of occupant information. Data were gathered using sensor and IoT technologies, and occupant patterns were modeled using data-driven methods. These patterns have been applied and validated through various control strategies in real buildings and simulations. Future research should enhance the integration between real and simulated environments to enable advanced control strategies.
