dc.description.abstractCurrently, urban building energy modeling(UBEM) is used by simplified models and thermal zones due to data constraints and computational efficiency of modeling, which often leads to uncertainties in energy prediction. Therefore, this study develops an unstructured thermal zoning method for UBEM and proposes a automated framework. An initial model of thermal zoning based on Voronoi diagram was constructed to design thermal zoning using indoor temperature-based K-means clustering. The results showed that the five basic models presented showed different forms of zoning for each building, which is a flexible way to respond to the shape and scale of the building. Moreover, the method was successfully performed from footprint extraction to automatic generation of energy models, demonstrating the potential for UBEM application.-
