Climate change has a significant impact on the built environment, and Green Roof is gaining attention as a viable passive strategy in response. Green Roof offers various environmental benefits, including reduction of heating and cooling loads, improvement of indoor thermal comfort, mitigation of urban heat island effects, stormwater management, and improved air quality. This study evaluates whether Green Roof can remain an effective energy-saving solution under future climate conditions by conducting EnergyPlus simulations in cities representing Korea’s ASHRAE Climate Zones 3A to 6A. Future climate scenarios for the years 2050 and 2080 based on SSP5-8.5 were applied to assess the changes in heating and cooling loads with and without Green Roof. The simulation results confirmed reductions in both heating and cooling loads across all scenarios, with up to 3.3% reduction in cooling load and 4.6–16.9% reduction in heating load depending on the climate zone and future scenario. These findings suggest that Green Roof can serve as an effective passive load reduction strategy in buildings under climate change conditions.-
