In this paper two machines termed as dual stator tubular vernier machine (DSTVM) and high temperature superonductor dual stator tubular vernier machine (HTS-DSTVM) have been presented for wave energy extraction. The DSTVM provides high thrust force per magnet volume where as HTS-DSTVM can offer both high thrust force per unit magnet volume and high power factor simultaneously. The electromagnetic characteristics of the proposed machines are compared with that of a recently presented dual-stator spoke type linear vernier machine (DSSLVM). The 2-D FEM results validate that the proposed HTS-DSTVM yields higher thrust force density and higher power factor than the reference machine.-
