dc.description.abstract | This paper proposes a novel dual airgap ferrite permanent magnet motor (FPMM) with an auxiliary inner stator for in-wheel applications. The proposed FPMM adopts the phase-group concentrated-coil (PGCC) windings and unaligned arrangement of two stators, to obtain high performance as the same as a previously reported FPMM, whereas the windings are fed only on the outer stator, featuring an auxiliary inner stator with only iron. Consequently, the proposed FPMM releases manufacturing difficulty and improves thermal condition by removing windings from the inner stator, but still maintains high performance, including high torque density and low cogging torque. To verify the contribution of the proposed FPMM, its characteristics are predicted by a finite element method (FEM), and compared to those of a basic motor model investigated in the previous research. | - |
