Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show the epistemological premise for more meaningful and productive dialogue, paying special attention to ‘Harmony’(和) which can be considered as a common core-value of Korea and Japan. Thereby, it is worth while to notice the differences found in the similarities with relation to the comparison between Korean and Japanese culture. From the perspective of this point, I will parallel Wonhyo(元曉)’s thought of “Reconciliation of many Assertions”(和諍) with the concept of Harmony in The Seventeen-Article Constitution(十七条憲法). In conclusion, the ultimate goal of this paper will be to manifest the epistemological dimension included in “Harmony but not Sameness” or “Harmony in Diversity”(和而不同) as a kind of “Healing”. In so doing, I will look for the possibility of the meaningful conversation between Korea and Japan, with reference to Mikhail M. Bakhtin’s “Dialogue Model” based on the notion “Exotopy” and “Polyphony”.
