dc.description.abstractThe flapping wing air vehicle (FWAV) can perform various missions such as exploration, rescue and reconnaissance. The biomimetic design of FWAV is classified into birds and insects according to the type and characteristics. Fabrication of the flapping wing micro air vehicle (FWMAV) for a mimetic insect is extremely difficult because the mechanism is complicated. Thus, an FWMAV of insect-size is developed as a biomorphic design of a bird type. FWAVs of the bird-size and FWMAVs of the insect-size are fabricated. The performances are demonstrated experimentally by test flights and measurement of the thrust and lift forces. As a result, fabrication direction for the FWMAV of insectsize is suggested.-
