- Abstract
- This paper presents the component design for electromagnetic torque improvement in an axial-flux permanent magnet vernier machine with the dual-stator single-rotor and spoke-type magnet topology, considering the various design factors such as the stator slot width, winding method, rotor structure as well as the rotor overhang effect. 3D finite-element method (FEM) is applied to evaluate the influence of each design factor on the electromagnetic torque. Each comparison has been built based on the same design parameters except the considered item. Based on all the comparisons, a final combination of design factors has been obtained for the relative attractive torque performance in the proposed machine.
