- Abstract
- Nuclear power plant accidents such as Fukushima and Chernobyl emit considerable amounts of harmful radiation. Recovery from such an accident takes a long time and many risks make operation difficult. Restoration work using unmanned equipment protects the operator from the r isk of secondary accidents such as radiation exposure and building collapse. In high-risk environments, unattended work should be performed in a carefully planned and optimized work scenario that prioritizes specific work. This study developed a methodology to investigate non-radiation and radiation risks, accessibility, difficulty of work and efficiency, and to assess the structural risks associated with specific unmanned recovery operations in such cases. The proposed risk assessment methodology is based on 3D scan data that can be used to derive structural damage for each zone at a nuclear plant site after a disaster.
