dc.description.abstract | The primary medium access control(MAC) technique of IEEE 802.11 is the distributed coordination function(DCF). In 802.11 DCF, the fundamental mechanism to control a collision is generally binary exponential backoff(BEB). It uniformly manages the control regardless of the types of traffic. In this paper, we provide an enhanced BEB which is applied to the various types of traffic such as voice, data and etc.. We build an analytical model to compute the steady state probability in both basic and enhanced BEB. Then, we compute the average backoff slot time, average transmission time and throughput. | - |
