- Abstract
- A study was conducted to demonstrate the growth of MnO2 on a carbon fiber paper (CFP) via a simple hydrothermal reaction, employing a CFP as a substrate. It was observed that different crystallographic structures of MnO2 were obtained depending on the presence or absence of a pre-treatment by Pt sputtering. It was also found that the two MnO2 species showed different specific capacitances when evaluated as pseudocapacitor electrodes. δ-MnO2 was prepared by a simple hydrothermal reaction for conducting the investigations. A piece of bare CFP was dipped into a solution containing 0.03 M manganese acetate for 15 min and annealed at 450 °C for 30 minutes for the deposition of a seed layer. δ-MnO 2 and α-MnO2 electrodes also showed an ideal capacitive behavior when evaluated as electrodes for pseudocapacitor.
