dc.description.abstractThis paper performs both of the simulated and measured results for the novel two-phase PMSM (TPPM motor) and the conventional single-phase PMSM (SPPM motor) with U-core stators. The novel TPPM motor is designed based on the SPPM motor for torque ripple minimization with approximate output power and core dimension. As shown in the comparison, torque pulsation in the TPPM motor can be reduced significantly, due to 90° electrical angle shift in two-phase excitation currents and in two pairs of magnets. Transient performance of both motors are analyzed by 3D FEM and dynamic performance are simulated in simulink, which are confirmed by the measured results.-
