- Abstract
- Current hash-based Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) authentication protocols can be divided into two types depending on whether the authentication information between a reader and a tag is fixed or dynamically changed in a tag memory. In this paper, we divide the protocols into static and dynamic ID-based authentication protocols and describe the advantages and disadvantages of each protocol. In addition, we propose a new security model that includes concepts of forward/backward traceability, synchronization and a forgery attack. Based on the model, we analyze security of the proposed protocol and previous protocols. Compared to previous protocols, the proposed protocol can provide enhanced user privacy while identifying tags more efficiently in terms of the computation quantity of tags and database.
