- Abstract
- This study was conducted based on data obtained, from a survey of 10,156 children and adolescents residing in 15 cities and provinces except Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, by National Youth Policy Institute, to examine the relationship between their depression and self-esteem with a focus on mediated effects of physical activity in the close relationship. Correlation analysis, simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis were utilized for data analysis by using SPSS 18.0 program. The findings of the study were as follows: first, it was found that the higher depressed mood in children and adolescents, the lower positive self-esteem they get (and the higher negative self-esteem they get); and second, it was revealed that a variable of physical activity played a partial role in mediating effects between the depression and self-esteem of children and adolescents.
