dc.description.abstractwe propose a fast and effective tone reproduction method that preserves visibility, contrast, and natural impression of scenes for conventional low dynamic range display devices. The method is simple and easy to implement. A single parameter controls the overall contrast and visibility in an elegant manner. We use an s-function curve which takes into account the log-average of the image, as well as the luminance in the immediate neighbourhood of the concerned pixel by using a median filter. It is observed that the technique gives satisfactory results for variety of images avoiding common artifacts, such as halos, gradient reversals, and loss of local contrast.-
