Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to analyze differences in adolescents’ characteristics of e-sports participation, sports attitude and sports participation, and was to inspect a causal relationship among variables. The subjects selected as a population were students attending middle and high schools located in Seoul. 844 subjects were collected as a sample through systematic stratified cluster random sampling method, and 811 out of 844 questionnaires were used in final analysis. By using SPSS 14.0 and AMOS 5.0, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and SEM (structural equation modeling) were conducted for data analysis. The result of this study is as follows. First, sports attitude was altered according to types of e-sports participation. Secondly, sports attitude of students was more negative when they became highly addicted to e-sports. Thirdly, students’ participation in sports was more activated when their sports attitude became positive.
