Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological state and physical skills of golf players during competition by various levels. The subjects of this study were 96 professional and amateur golf players participating winter training camp and the second K. G. M golf tournament. Total 70 golf players' data except inappropriate responses were used. The instrument for this study were CSAI-2 testing the anxiety under competition situation and PSIS, questionnaire for psychological skills in sports. This study examined players' experience, record, handicap, and the level of psychological skills between professional and amateur golf players. 1. The results of PSIS Based on players' experience, the significant differences of psychological skills in sports(anxiety, concentration, confidence, and mental preparation) among groups were found. The statistically significant differences in psychological skills in sports(concentration, mental preparation, and motivation) among groups based on the level of individual's handicap were found. There were significant differences in anxiety factor(t =3.824, p=.001) and in concentration factor( t=3.795, p=.000) between professional and amateur golf players. This study found that there were significant differences in anxiety, concentration, mental preparation, and motivation among groups based on individual's records. 2. The results of anxiety under competition situation The recognizant anxiety, physical anxiety and concentration among groups based on players' experience were found to have significant differences. The statistically significant differences in concentration among groups based on level of individual's handicap were found. There were significant differences in recognizant anxiety(t =-2.024, p=.047), physical anxiety(t=-2.135, p=.036), and state confidence(t =3.942, p=.000) between professional and amateur golf players. This study found that there were significant differences in physical anxiety and state confidence among groups based on individual's records.
