사대부시조에 나타난 밤의 성격 -16 17세기 작품을 중심으로-

Abstract

밤이 되면 어둠이 찾아오고, 어둠 속에 모든 사물이 은폐되면서 사람들의 생각이나 상상력은 증폭된다. 그래서 낮 동안 감추었던 내면 자아를 밤이 되면 종종 표출하곤 한다. 본고에서는 이러한 특성을 지닌 밤의 성격에 대하여 16·17세기의 사대부시조를 중심으로 살펴보고자 한다. 논의의 구체성을 위하여 본격적인 논의에 앞서 다른 장르나 다른 시기의 시조 속에 나타난 밤의 모습에 대해서도 고찰하였다. 16·17세기 사대부시조에 나타난 밤은 양면성을 띠는 것으로, ‘즐김의 밤’과 ‘견딤의 밤’으로 요약할 수 있다. 즉 전자는 달, 술과 어우러져 밤을 풍류의 시간으로 인식하는 것이라면, 후자는 관직에서 물러나 군주를 떠나있으면서 ‘임’으로 형상화된 군주에 대한 연군지정을 노래하며 밤을 슬픔의 시간으로 인식한 것이다. 이러한 모습은 다른 시기의 사대부시조에 나타난 밤과 차별됨으로써 그 특성을 지닌다. 18세기 이후의 사대부시조와 비교했을 때, 18세기 이후에는 밤을 즐김의 밤으로 인식함이 매우 미약했다. 또 즐김의 밤으로 인식했을 때도 풍류보다는 유흥의 측면이 더욱 강했다. 견딤의 밤으로 인식함에 있어서도 16·17세기의 작품이 연군을 중심으로 노래한 것과는 달리 18세기 이후의 작품은 개인적 정서를 노래함이 절대적이었다. 이처럼 밤이 양면성을 지닌다는 점에서는 서로 일치되지만 그 형상화의 모습에서는 서로 차별성을 띤다고 하겠다. 요컨대, 사대부시조에 나타난 밤의 양면성이 밤이 지닌 보편적 모습이라면, 그 양면성의 구체적인 모습은 계층이나 시대에 따른 개성이라 하겠다.

When is night and the gloom seeks and comes, all things conceal in gloom inside. So the thought or imaginative power of the people are amplified. The people was in daytime feeling the self-ego, which shows in night. This paper is which in the center on 16·17th centuries the high official's Sijo, investigates the character of night. From this dissertation, the night when appears in the 16·17th centuries high official's Sijo is visible double-faced. There are 'night of enjoying' and 'night of subsisting'. The former, with the moon and alcoholic beverage thinks a night at time of elegance. The latter night being sad in the mind which misses the king, thinks at time. Like this features with the night when appears in high official's Sijo of the other period, keeps a distinctive quality. Compares with 16·17th centuries and a 18th century, the work of 18th century after that enjoying a night, recognizes was insufficient in the object. Even though, the 'night of enjoying' recognized, and the side of pleasures was stronger the elegance. Night of subsisting, when recognizing, the work of 18th century after that emotion of the individual song the fact that does was most. That is to say, the night wears double-faced agrees with the 16·17th centuries and a 18th century. But, the character is different each other.
