Abstract

This research proposed a tool to evaluate the cognitive ability of elderly people using mobile phone. Based on the results of previous researches, important attributes of cognitive ability were reviewed to design the experimental protocol. Furthermore, an interview survey was performed with 80 participants to identify the cognitive discomfort in using mobile phone among elderly people. Those results provided a foundation to determine the specific evaluation categories and valid experimental plan. Through this process, we were able to suggest an experimental protocol to quantify the level of degeneration of cognitive ability among elderly people in using mobile phone. This study would contribute to design so called `silver products` targeting both current and future elderly consumers.
