뮤직비디오에 나타난 포스트 모더니티 연구

Abstract

21세기 현대의 시각 환경은 ‘이성’ 중심의 인식론을 밀어내고, 그 자리에 ‘감성’ ‘감각’으로 재구성되고 있다. 특히 대중영상물들은 이러한 변화를 가장 빠르게 반영하고 또 선도하는 분야라 할 수 있다. 그러나 안타깝게도 대중영상물들에서 예술적, 미학적 의미를 고민한 흔적을 찾아내기는 쉽지 않다. 이러한 이유에서 본 논문은 뮤직비디오 연구의 중요성에 대해 고찰하였다. 우선, 질 들뢰즈의 <감각론>과 장 보드리아르의 <시뮬라크르>등의 포스트모더니즘 연구를 통해 ‘감각’과 ‘시뮬라크르’의 특성을 규명하였고, 다음으로는 구체적인 사례분석을 통해 뮤직비디오의 포스트 모더니티를 살펴보았다. 포스트모더니즘의 개념을 영상화하고 있는 크리스 커닝햄(Chris Cunningham)과 미셸 공드리(Michal Gondry)의 작품세계를 분석하는 것은 유의미한 일이다.포스트모더니즘에 기반을 둔 뮤직비디오를 제작방법이나, 화면구성 등 표피적인 방법으로 분석하였을 때 자칫 작가의 예술 철학을 간과하는 오류를 범하게 된다. 포스트모더니즘 미학을 이해하고 그 실체에 대한 탐구와 영상작품들의 분석은 뮤직비디오 연구의 새로운 대안을 제시하는 밑거름이 될 수 있을 것이다.

The 21st century modern visual environment pushes away the epistemology centered on reason and puts 'sensuality' and 'sense' on its place. Especially, public films are one of the fields that rapidly reflect such changes and lead the changes. However, unfortunately, it is difficult to find such efforts that reflect the artistic and aesthetic significance from the public films. This article attempt to explain significance of study of music video. First, we can research 'simulacre' and 'sensation' by studying post-modernism. Such as by Gilles Deleuze and by Jean Baudrillard, Second, we can research post-modernity of music videos. It would be meaningful to analyze the works of Chris Cunningham and Michal Gondry who makes films with the concept of Postmodernism Analyzing music video. based on post-modernism in a superficial manner that includes production method or picture composition, falls into the error of overlooking the director's aesthetics. Understanding the aesthetic of post-modernism, studying its substance, and analyzing the films will make a sacrifice of suggesting a new alternative in studying music video .
