- Abstract
- The resonant instability of the surface dust-acoustic wave is investigated in a semibounded dusty plasma containing elongated and rotating dust grains. The temporal growth rate of the surface dust-acoustic instability is obtained by the plasma dielectric function with the specular reflection boundary condition. The results show that the domain of the instability increases with increase in the wave number, especially for the case of the negatively charged dust grains. It is also found that the growth rate of the instability with negatively charged dust grains is found to be smaller than that with positively charged dust grains. In addition, it is found that the growth rate decreases with increasing the ratio of the dust plasma frequency to the rotation frequency. (c) 2006 American Institute of Physics.
