- Abstract
- The purpose of this study were to describe and compare the selected electromyographical muscle activities of body during the Amateur golfer's swing. Using surface electrode electro- myography, we evaluated muscle activity in 4 male Amateur golfers during a golf 1wood, 3iron, 5iron & 7iron swing. Surface electrodes were used to record the level of muscle activity in the Deltoid(DT), Latissimus(LS), Rectus Femoris(RF), Gastrocnemius(GC) muscles during a golf swing. These signals were compared with %RVC(Reference voluntary contraction) which was normalized by IEMG(Integrated EMG). we observed patterns of selected muscle activity throughout five phases of the golf swing. The results can be summarized as follows: LDT, LS, GC had statistically significant difference in take away phase, LDT, LLS, GC, RF had statistically significant difference in forward swing phase, LGC had statistically significant difference in acceleration phase, RLS, LGC had statistically significant difference in early follow through phase, LDT, LS, GC, RF had statistically significant difference in late follow through phase.
