- Abstract
- Park, Sang-Chun. 2006. Possibilities for Expansion of Literature in the Digital Era. Recently there have been heated discussions on the crisis of humanities or crisis of literature in our society. Unlike these arguments, the present study maintains that digital technology does not present a danger to literature but provides an opportunity to move on.In addition, this study claims that we should not look at the crisis of humanities or literature as coming from the negative aspects of social changes, but that we should explore the possibilities to lead the social changes more aggressively by understanding the social changes in this digital era.In particular, this study will turn to the fact that multimedia, which has been known as weakening the role of literature, is in fact opening new possibilities for literature by expanding it to a new domain beyond the existent framework of language. Besides, it is claimed that multimedia, the center of culture now, is opening new possibilities for art by integrating again the art forms that have been diverged.
